Top Tips when buying Hard Flooring

Choose the right Hard Flooring for the space.

Always consider where you are looking to place hard flooring. Any wet areas are only suitable for Vinyl flooring.

Consider the overall colour scheme.

Will the hard flooring need to compliment your furnishings or kitchen bench tops? Are you looking to add impact to your room or trying to match or contrast other flooring?

How much do you want to pay? Spend as much as you can afford to get the longevity out of your flooring.

Remember, the better the quality of Hard Flooring, the longer it will last and continue to look good. Don't forget to include any other costs, such as removal of old flooring or making good any already damaged areas. After all Preparation is key!!

Get your room professionally measured.

If you are flooring more than one room with the same hard flooring, it may be more economical to have them done at the same time.

Unless you love DIY, have your hard flooring fitted professionally.

Professional fitters have the right tools for the trade. The finishing touches a professional will do makes all the difference to the look of your floor.

Finally, Ask us for a sample book or full plank to take home & try, its best to check your colour choice against your own furnishings and decor.

Caring for your Hard Floor

Looking after your Hard Flooring.

Homestyle wants your new hard flooring to look good for as long as possible but the reality is dirt and grit are a fact of life and spills and accidents are inevitable. There are however, some basic measures that can be taken to extend the life of carpets and help it look good for longer.

Use a doormat as that will significantly reduce the rate at which the flooring will soil.

Depending on your choice of hard flooring.

When it comes to cleaning Vinyl flooring is the easiest. A quick vacuum & mop does the trick. Timber floor or Laminate can be just as easy with a quick vacuum with one thing to remember; just a damp mop for this one & a dry cloth over the top to pick up any excess water.

Vinyl Planking & Hybrid flooring

Compared to alternative materials, vinyl makes a flexible and cost-effective flooring solution because it is:

Long lasting
Water-resistant
Relatively inexpensive
Available in an amazing range of colours, patterns and textures
Easy to clean
Suitable for under-floor heating

Unlike vinyl sheet, vinyl plank is DIY-friendly and can be a cost saver if you are happy to install it yourself.

How Vinyl is Made?

Vinyl is made up of different layers.  The top layer is clear vinyl which protects the flooring from damage. The thickness and quality of this layer determines the quality of the vinyl. The better the quality the longer the vinyl will continue looking good and wearing well. Underneath is a layer for the printed vinyl design, which is then fixed onto a backing.

Vinyl Plank will come with different thicknesses of wear layer & is a  product which requires to be adhered to the floor completely.

We do not offer the version that requires its backing to be peeled off & stuck to the floor, we feel the low quality of this product does not belong with our other high quality flooring.
